Ibiza (Eivissa) is an island in the Mediterranean Sea situated 80 km (50 miles) off the coast of Valencia on the Spanish mainland. It is the third largest of the Balearic islands and measures about 40 km (25 miles) in length. Ibiza has a reputation for its excessive clubbing scene in summer with its bars, discos and nightclubs. However, the island's government is trying to promote Ibiza as a family-oriented destination offering visitors over 50 beaches, natural scenes, historical destinations and a variety of holiday accommodation.
