Malaga's historical Old City is closed to vehicles and therefore a great place to explore on foot. Many of the interesting sites here are within walking distance but remember to have comfortable walking shoes. Major attractions include the 8th century Alcazaba (palace built by the Moors), Castillo de Gibralfaro (14th century fortress) and Mercado Central (indoor market housed in a 19th century building). Others include Paseo del Parque (an enchanting garden) and Picasso's Birthplace (apartment where Pablo Picasso spent his childhood).
