Madeira Airport (informally known as Funchal Airport) is located about 14 km (8.7 miles) northeast from Madeira's capital of Funchal. It is a single terminal airport and there are no air bridges - travellers either have to walk or take the shuttle bus between the terminal and plane. Though there are regular flights between Madeira Airport and cities across Western Europe, most are seasonal and chartered. Ground transport from the airport include shuttle buses to Funchal and Machico, taxis and car rental services.
