Porto, Portugal - The City of Porto
Situated in northern Portugal along the Douro River estuary is Porto, the country's second-largest city after Lisbon. Porto is home to around 300,000 people but has 2.5 million people living within a 50 km (31 miles) radius. The city's history dates back several centuries when it was a Roman outpost known as Portus, and the historical centre has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Being built along several hills, Porto is a hilly city and walking in the area can be hard on the feet.
