Madrid is the capital and largest city in Spain, and the third largest in Western Europe after London and Paris. The capital is centrally located on the Iberian Peninsula, and home to 3.2 million people (2013) and around 6.5 million if you include the metropolitan area. Madrid is a vibrant city best known for its great cultural heritage and royal history. Major landmarks include Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Royal Palaca and Plaza de Colón. For visitors, Madrid boasts as having one of the liveliest nightlife in Europe.
