Granada is a mid-sized city of a quarter million people and the provincial capital of Andalusia. The city is located in Spain's southern region at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Granada's historic centre is at the intersection of Gran Via de Colon and Calle Reyes Catolicos, a lively area of the city with its shops, restaurants, cafes and accommodation. A major attraction here is the 13th century Alhambra, a large and magnificent complex built by the Moors comprising of a fortress, palace and garden.
