Madrid, Spain - Getting Around Madrid by Metro

Riding Madrid's commuter rail network (known as Metro de Madrid) is a convenient way to get around the city. It is one of the most extensive in the world and second only to London's Underground. The Madrid Metro covers a total distance of 293 km or 182 miles (2014) and comprises of 13 lines, 300 stations and 26 interchanges. The metro operates daily from 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and tickets purchased from the ticketing machines - instructions are in Spanish as well as English, French and German.
