Madrid, Spain - Getting Around Madrid by Cercanias Trains

Complementing Madrid's Metro is the system of local trains known as Cercanias Madrid. The Cercanias trains connect Madrid's city center in all directions with the outlying suburbs and villages. The network comprises of nine lines totalling 370 km (230 miles) and 89 stations. The Cercanias trains are convenient for visiting destinations beyond the city and quicker than the Metro (making fewer stops) for travelling between the northern (Chamartin Station) and southern (Atocha Station) ends of the city.
