Madrid, Spain - Getting Around Madrid by Public Bus

Madrid's Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT) or Municipal Transport Corporation operates the city's public buses. More than 3,000 buses operate in Madrid, covering most of the city including routes not covered by the Metro. The bus service is reliable, comfortable and buses depart about every 20 minutes. While the Metro and Cercanias trains begin to close after midnight, the bus service operates round the clock - night buses known as Buhos (Owls) operate from around midnight to 6:00 a.m.
