Lisbon, Portugal - Getting Around Lisbon by Taxi

Taxis in Lisbon are inexpensive compared to other cities in Western Europe. The basic taxi fare starts at €2.50 for the first 150 metres (492 feet) and €0.10 for every 150 metres. Supplementary charges apply including a 20% surcharge for a hiring a taxi from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and on weekends. Drivers expect a tip and usually in the range of 10% of the fare. Most drivers can only converse in Portuguese, so have the name and address of the destination written to show the taxi driver before boarding.
