You don't need a car if you are staying in Albufeira's Old Town since much of the area is pedestrianised. Furthermore, the roads here are narrow and winding, and finding a parking space is almost impossible. You may still want to rent a car if staying outside the Old Town and plan to explore the Algarve to visit the scenic coast, remote beaches and coastal villages. There are several car rental companies at Faro Airport as well as in Albufeira's city centre including Hertz, Avis, Budget, Europcar and Sixt.
