Faro's city centre is fairly compact and you can get around exploring the area by walking. Though you don't need a car, the roads in Faro are not particularly crowded but there are the narrow one way streets that make for cautious driving. Driving outside of Faro is an enjoyable experience, passing along the scenic coast and visiting the several beaches. You'll find several car rental companies outside the arrival hall of Faro International Airport including Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt, Auto Jardim and Auriga Crown.
